I guess I like to know how much oil I'm using, how much oil is left, etc. Didn't mean to offend anyone.

yeah no offense meant. but when im riding im not too concerned about how many mpg's or how much oil i use. i mean using less is great and all but as long as im having a good time that is my main goal.

I get ya. I just need to know if I have to plan ahead for oil if I am going on a longer trip. It's all good.

i would say yes. people obsess over the oil tank for some reason and over think the whole process.

the reason they dont say it holds 4 is because they dont want you to use 4 hence the 3.8 max usable number.

I really don't think it's over-thinking anything. I want to know how far I can get. I do overnight trips and if I get somewhere and they don't have oil I am screwed. Didn't think it was a big to to understand how much oil a machine is using and use it to my advantage, LOL

what i would be more concerned with is the ratio. until that is known your just guessing.

much more important that whether the tank holds 3.8 or 4.0,lol.

That was just one of the questions. It's pretty hard to figure out a ratio if you don't know how much oil you are using. Which is why I am doing this whole thing in the first place. The 3.8 to 4.0 was just a question. WOW

no its not that hard. i have only added oil 1 time in 300 miles/less than 1qt. without even a piece of paper i can tell you its around 80:1.
