I have too agree with you, My 800`s were as good on gas as my new 13,and a hell of a lot quicker and faster, (Three in a Row "Makem Go")

O.K., since we're in "wish list" mode, how's about a 1000 cc triple, to make emissions close, a direct injection set-up, de-tuned for reliability, but STILL pumping out an honest 200 h.p.. I'd seriously look into selling off my classic sleds to grab something like that.. (why have four "old girls" when ya could have one Scarlet Johansen?)

Polaris has 5 engine choices right now. which one are they going to get rid of.

1. 600 and 800 are here to stay.
2. 4 strokers are growing.
3. You need an entry level sled 500cc
4. Get rid of the 120 and go with 1000. Wishful thinking but it would be cool they would sell more 1000 but the ROI ($$$) is alot less

Yeah the mileage point is not even a factor, most triples got great mileage, i know the zrt's used to drink some fuel....but as a whole they werent bad. My family over the years have had about 400 xlt's lol, all could go the 150 mile range. Granted less power, but less tech, and lower driveline efficiency. My '01 500 xc was one of the worst sleds i ever owned on fuel...weird?

My opinion-
#1-Correct

#2- 4-strokes are becoming popular, but will Polaris have a chassis to accomadate it? Won't fit in a current Pro-ride.

#3- Don't bet on this, would cost as much as a Indy 600 standard.

#4 -Wishful thinking for sure, and if the 1000 was a triple, would require a different chassis as would a new 4-stroke powerplant.

Wait a month or so and we should hear what they WILL do.

Agree on all points which is why I doubt we will see more than minor variations in the Indy for 2014. Polaris really badly needs a decent 4 stroke to replace the old FS/FST so I'm predicting there will be a new 4 stroke - perhaps an adaptation of one of their ATV engines and that they will go with a split platform like Ski-doo did with their REV-XP for the two strokes and REV-XR for the 4 strokes. It might be called an Indy just like there are sleds from Ski-doo where an XP and XR sled are both TNT's. But it's basically a different chassis.

Then again Ski-doo did make their ACE fit in a Rev-XP so who knows? And they need a replacement for the 550 Fan too which is why an "ACE Like" engine from Polaris could make a lot of sense.

1. LOTS of us do not want a 144" tracked sled for trail and lake riding.

2. Stop dreaming about a new 2-stroke triple; it won't happen.

3. I have no idea how Polaris is meeting the EPA fleet average requirement with out a high volume selling 4-stroke. Polaris has cable ATV / SXS 4-stroke motors, hopefully they will have "modern" 4-stroke sled for 2014.

4. Many still want an Indy 800!!!

I wouldn't hold my breath on a fourstroke in a pro ride chassis this year. After sitting and talking with the polaris guys this past weekend and them saying 4 stroke sales are only 10 percent of sales I figure there won't be any new one for 2014. Now that doesn't mean to say that they won't but they were pretty mum on any question asked to them about a 4 stroker

I'm thinking that 10% figure has got to be percent of sales for Polaris not industry wide. There are a heck of a lot of Ski-Doo 4-tec 1200's and 600 ACE's out there and Cat has it's 800 as its only two stroke so I'm betting at least half of Cat sales (probably more) are its 4 strokes, at least if you are looking at 2012 and 2013. Don't forget it's basically in Polaris's interest to play down the importance of a 4-stroke when it basically doesn't have one in anything but a touring or utility sled anymore.
