They are slow

 

The driver is the same as my Edge(9tooth-2.52pitch).
so 1-1 ratio at 8250 with 22/40 gearing is almost 97.5mph. but I already new that. I just wanted know what other people are getting for top-speed.
I want my top-speed to be at least as much as my 05 600 Edge(107mph).

 

I think any time a 600 twin hits the 100mph mark its pretty impressive.

 

Last weekend hard packed snow, 1500 ft ...2014 Indy 800 95mph, 2015 AXYS 800 93 mph, 2012 ETEC 800 XRS 93 - 95, 2010 ETEC 600 88 mph, 2014 ACE 900 (Cudney kit) 77 mph. Real world conditions...radared

 

Lake Butte des Morts,Saturday,1000', ice. 2014 Indy 800,120 megabites,800 miles on speedo,radared 93 mph.

 

I'm not doubting your speeds but did you happen run with another comparable sled and if so, what did they achieve?

The speedo is not the most accurate tool to use when determining top speed. You need a radar gun and several runs. Although these 600 are fast out of the crate I doubt you are hitting 110 or 108 on a stock 600 liberty. The most ive seen on my speedo was 101 on a hard packed road.

 

2013 standard indy 600 with 120 roetin hornets 35 miles on the sled 1700 foot plowed strip 23/40 gear...i think.... 107 on radar

 

I should have bought the 600 the best I've seen on my 800 105 on ice in 2000ft. Most of the time 90 to 95 that's it. That's one fast 600

 

Do you have a part number for the 40 tooth gear? Compared to my 600 Edge, or even the 500 Edges that I had, the Top-speed is a little lacking on the Indy. The stock 22/40 gearing is good with stock 10-64 weights, but on ice with the 10-66 weights... it just needs more gear.

 

I use my GPS for speeds, but sometimes I don't have it with me.

 

My speedo only reads 90-95, 1" hacksaw, 96 picks up the middle. RPM is about 8150.
Stock clutching

 

I have seen between 100-120 mph on the crappy gauge with stock clutching. That was on a lake with minimal snow cover.

 

The gauges are crappy alright. I can hardly read the RPM's when the sun is on it. The speedo is small, and it goes from 100 to 120. The Edge speedo is bigger, and goes from 100 to 110.
Softer snow can really slow down a sled too.

 

Yup for sure. Softer snow I'm looking at 90-95 mph on speedo.

Just curious that you said you have 227 Miles and you are riding it wide open? Are you still in your break in period? I didn't think you were supposed to do that during break in.

Mine was seeing radar runs with only 15 miles on it. 91-93mph in 1000ft on ice.

'15 Indy SP 600 ran between 100-103 on ice this past weekend. I backed off after I saw the speedo up around there. I have about 550 miles on it, everything stock. How much does a rider's weight affect speed, aside from the obvious bogging down a fat load rider would have...?

 

I get what your sayin but like I say it took me 4 years to get that # out of my fusion and this one is much stronger box stock... goes good to 90 then slowly climbs. I've got some cheap intake mods and it isn't my 1st day at the rodeo...I'd love to get my hands on an 800 indy...

 

Have you ever run an Indy or another comparable cc sled. I run my brothers AXYS 800 and it's very close. The Indy 800 has a slight top end gain but they are so close in 1200 ft you can throw a blanket around us. Holeshot races are determined by traction only

 

As far as being setup to trail ride I've run a very well prepped 1100 NA cat and walked past him at will a well prepped 03 f-7 I could stay right beside until 70... When it's setup to grass drag I've beat many trail 800s of all makes...

 

At last year's radar runs I ran 94 in a thousand feet and there was an El tigre 600 that ran 86...

 

And just for reference I weigh 182 lbs in full gear....

Sounds like you have a well tuned 6:buttrock:

 

I weigh a little over 200 with gear.
If your speeds seem low, make sure your clutches are aligned good, clean, and run a good belt.
It also runs faster with a hot pipe.
It's been a little over 6 years since I ran at a sanction 1000' speed run. I ran my 06 500 Edge that day, and it ran 93.1 mph. A couple years before that, my 05 600 Edge ran a best of 96.9 mph in a 1000'. A few weeks ago(testing with my GPS), my 600 Indy ran 94.7,95.1,and 94.8mph in the 1000'. All those runs were on ice, and were 100% trail sleds. Just make sure your sled is set-up decent.

 

I have a 15 indy sp LE 600 best I seen on mine was in the low 90 Speedo on a trail same as my 09d6 but a lot quicker out of the whole

 

My 14 non sp indy 600 showed 97 mph on the speedo and slowly climbing on a hard packed trail when I ran out of room. I did swap the original track with a 1.25" predator track though. I was racing a 07 mxz adrenalin 600 (ho?). Took off on him but at about 80-85 he caught me and passed with some speed. Not sure if he had any mods, he just bought the sled.

 

Does the 1.25" track slow you down a lot? My Indy 600 has a 1" track, and its still pulling real hard at 80-85.

 

I only had that track on for 408 miles so its hard to say, but it feels at 80 mph with this track it still pulls hard. It sure hooks up better all over though, and I won't go back. That doo does have a smaller track though and maybe some work done to it though, as he passed me with too much speed at around 85-90 mph. Still, considering the kamikaze guys I drive with, an 05 800 doo and a 08 500 doo 500ss, I can keep up with them pretty well except for cornering and over unknown hills where they just open it up, and I don't have the stones for that. Explains their trips to the ER lol. I really got to figure out how to put more weight on the front, I can't turn for the life of me. But, I can wheelie to 60...:wall:
