This has happened on my '15 Indy SP...not very happy about it, I have about 350ish miles on the sled. The light occasionally flickers and has shut off for up to 15 seconds or so at a time. It's very random, and doesn't happen all that often

 

hood harness not tight or clicked together? chassis relay bad or sticking? a short somewhere? (heated grips)or a failing voltage regulator? from easiest to worst case.

 

I think my hood harness has a tight connection. Can you explain the chassis relay? I'm not familiar with this so I'd like to check that. My xc had a bad voltage reg but that caused my headlights to go dim as I gave it more throttle, my headlights are just cutting out completely.

 

chassis relay is in the main chassis harness right by the connection bag at the upper steering post and over structure connection. it's a $20 part. some of these have caused lights/ gauge flickering. if it's just your head lights then it might be the high/low switch?

 

I haven't looked at my 13 to close to see if they are designed like the old edge's but on my 02 the hi/low switch is built in with the heated hand grip adjustment. I was riding my 02 and the low went out completely but the hi would work flickering at times. I was careful and took the switch apart to find the plastic piece around the connections was melted not allowing to make a good connection on hi beam and no connection on low. So maybe this will be an issue with our new indys as well

 

Or could be a faulty light switch - had this happen a few times with past polaris sleds- it is the same light switch used for the past 15 yrs

 

Exactly. I agree faulty switch but if you are careful the switch can be repaired to get you through the season. I would recommend changing it eventually if that is the problem.

 

I had my 14 indy 600 sp do this also. On,y seemed to happen at idle. Happened in the first 300 miles. I know have about 1000 miles on her and it not happened since I hit 300 miles.. I have had the hood off and disconnected the harness about 4-5 times since the 300 mile mark. Up to the 300 mile mark I did not disconnect the harness at all.. I am not sure if the harness was the problem or not, but it has not happened yet since mile 300..

My heated shield connection came loose from my helmet and was bouncing on the floorboards, lights were going on and off. I would first look at any of the hot accessory leads for a short.
