Default New TD 3 inch exhaust and turbo outlet pros/cons??

I spoke to Ben yesterday and I purchased the 3 inch intimidator muffler and outlet but I have a few concerns.....does anybody think it will be too loud for trail applications and long 300 mile days? Is it possible that I might lose some bottom end power due to the larger diameter? I am hoping a few guys with the 2.5 combo chime in with some of their personal reviews any feedback would be appreciated thanks!

seems like if you have a concern there might have been a better choice...did you see his silent choice units? best of both worlds maybe?

Concern after purchase? Well.

Personnaly, don't think it's too loud, just a different sound.
For performance or bottom end power, don't worry about it.

Turbine tech has a plug of sorts that you can put into your muffler for those days and is easy to install on the trail. check them out and maybe Ben can apply it to yours

I had Boyd from BM Performance build me a 3" exhaust last year. It was louder than my 2.5" he had built earlier. He tapered the outlet similar to what Turbine Tech did to give me clearance. I don't know if it was any better for trail performance as the 2.5" was awesome. I plan to run this sled at higher levels so the 3" seemed like the way to go. Since I also had him build a 3" straight pipe I may plug the 3" muffler back down to 2.5" for trail riding.

3.0" is tested to be 2db louder than 2.5" on track dyno.
We have videos of this we'll upload soon taken by Tom...

It does sound deeper and gives you the impression of a bigger motor.
So it does sound louder than the 2.5" for those reasons and 2db louder on the meter.

Here's what it sounds like being in a very echo shop reflecting off the cement making 320HP + on race program
In snow this will be MUCH quieter.

Can anyone speak to the pros/cons of a 2.5" diameter exhaust system vs. the 3.0" system?? Other than noise levels...

Wondering if the 3.0" is too "open" for good trail performance, etc.

If 3.0" I'd that much better in all scenarios, why wasn't that the main option for previous years??

Great question. In theory 2.5" is more than enough and with short piping in terms of flow.
In practice it seem the 3" to be a little superior.
We have not measure low RPM torque but it is unlikely the 3" will lose any torque with a CVT clutching like there is on sleds.
On a direct drive gear system at low rpm might see a small loss in torque.
