I'm going to need to do some more research before I want to commit to one of these.

They are just geared very low- not a big deal to have dealer or tuner swap a gear. The sidewinder is running 116 out of the box with a 1.25" lug as it has the taller gearing. FWIW - throw $1,000 at it (Powertrail tune, modified stock exhaust, gear, and clutch kit and you'll be seeing 125-130 on snow!

Yeah I figured that big fan of a track (1-3/4) was slowing it down some and I knew the gearing was lower. Just didn't expect speeds to be that low with that much HP.

I have read that the SW was posting bigger numbers, just wasn't sure if that was all gearing or maybe their clutches were better than the TEAM.

In my research about the turbos I have read several times that the Cats were thought to be geared low to help alleviate belt heat. Not sure if that has any merit and may never know.

I rode Cats for my first 23 years of riding and have been on Doo's for the last 16. I'm no stranger to the Cats.

My dealer is a good friend of mine and handles Doo and Cat. Because of that I don't even want to consider a Yamaha. The only reason I'm considering the Cross Country is because he has a leftover and is offering me a great deal. That's why I'm asking for as much info as I can get to try and make a decision on this particular sled.

Thanks for any help.

Been a cat man my whole life and switched to ski Doo after my wife insisted on a Rev when they first came out- one ride was all it took on her 600 SDI. Back to Cat for the turbos the past 3 years for the ridiculous power they can make and couldn't be happier. You will love the Cross Country. I've always had whatever the hottest setup is and I've got to tell you- the way this new one handles, rides and pulls corner to corner really made me not care about the 100mph top (although I will be fixing that little issue). It's just a very refined and sweet package. In all fairness, I had an entire day on a new xrs 800 renegade this year and it rides very very nice as well- maybe my wife's next sled

Been riding a 1200 Doo for 6 years. Great sled and engine, just bored with it. Either going to get a turbo or a new 850. Just gotta make my mind up. Lots of things I like about both.

Don't think you can go "wrong" with either. Have you rode a boosted sled? When you get bored of it you can just add more boost...

I agree with everything said here..Especially the seat! My wife took a 17 zr6000 RS (demo) out for the day and the cross country seat is WAY softer. I have the same studs also.. no issues there. love my sled! oh and by the way, i hit 110 mph on radar with stock gearing; tuned of course. I havent done a radar run in stock form tho. I'll 110 no matter what the conditions. Ill over rev (9600) and bounce off my rev limiter in low snow/hard packed conditions. I have a 41 tooth gear and chain waiting to be installed for next season (ratio will be 22/41 after swap)

I ride with sleds that hit 120mph on radar; faster then me or not, i always make it accross the lake before them.. lol They will need a 10mile WOT run to pass my 110 mph sled IMHO. The amount of acceleration that i have on those "faster" sleds is absolutely incredible!
