I know many are racing with the stock 1100 or 800 shaft and they seem to be able to take the abuse. And there are many of us riding now with various braces or mounts to limit movement but still seeing belts go away too fast. I have my offset at 1.420 and it still is hard on the outer cord.
So, the last piece of the puzzle is the shaft. If anyone is trail riding one of these turned up a bit with a better jackshaft I'd like some feedback. I'm down for a week with a coolant leak and it looks like its gonna be in the 40's most of the week so time to reasses and try to make this thing better. |

I have the beefier Jackshaft (Franks), my Ultimax Pro only lasted 70 miles running a J.P. clutch kit until it fell apart. I had both the OSP braces in, but with rumors of leaking heat exchanger issues I put in Mel's Jackshaft support instead. I'll be now running a 1.420 offset (vs. 1.450 offset) and a Gates Carbon Fiber belt. Just need some miles on sled now to see how it will hold up.
Never blew an OEM belt last year with the 1.485 offset, but did start to see fraying around 300 miles. Maybe I should have left everything alone and just run the tighter offset.... I have a second set of clutches that will have the Dalton set-up (or a combo of it) I'll try next. That is what seemed to work best for me last season. My first couple times out last year I ran the stock secondary with .030" Shaved off each of the plastic washers. In the primary I ran the D&D tan spring and T1 weights and D&D Z1 turbo shim. It worked very well for trail riding. OEM belt.

Well I wanted to try one but everyone is out of shafts. What's that tell you! Guess it will go back together with stock shaft and we'll see what happens next.

I have Franks shaft and belt gaurd/fan combo and his torque arms, rotor cover, OSP original jackshaft brace, OSP engine snubber, D&D poly mounts, cat manual chain tentioner, tuner secondary, TD HD belt with 1.507 offset, stock primary with STM wieghts, added frogskinz on the front of the side panels, moflows on the back side, did the speedwerx venting mod, and sealed off/caulked everything i could on my clutch side. My sled created so much clutch heat last year and went through 3 belts. This year with around 200 miles to far a totally different machine as far as the clutching goes. Cool clutches and belt looks great. Even after multiple anti-lag launches on TD max91 tune. Big thanks to Frank (Belanger Racing), Jim (OSP), and Tom (TD USA) for all the help.

down 100 degree's from last year, 500 miles on belt this year and still new and I did suck the belt down into the secondary when my white wedge in my secondary flew out somewhere never to be seen again, don't ever try to back up with one missing, I thought I blew the chain and gears, nope, it was sucking the belt down in the secondary and made my primary all black with rubber all the way from the bottom to the top, the belt lived through it thank God. It does feel nice to have a real sled now after what I went through last year, redisigned my sled now its a sled, 4500 miles now, the bitch is going racing on the 19, Ice baby, she will be a rocket with all the stuff that is going on it, I might even put a set of wheelie bars on it, that will turn some heads.
