Default my weekend

Let me tell you about this awesome week i had . My buddy and I decided to go for one last canada trip this year we drove 3 1/2 hours from ct. to derby vt and parked at a friends camp unloaded and headed out first day we made it 180 miles to thetford mines trails were immaculate pefect conditions.. the next day we headed out for montmagny on the st. lawrence river . again the snowmobile gods were smiling on us as it was absolute perfect conditions 25 degrees and sunny, trails were flawless. about 100 miles in to our trip on day two i came over a little hill and heard the all too familiar sound of gears grinding in my chaincase, i have heard this before having a couple missed reverse shifts but have since stopped using reverse per the instructions from cat. the letter states "the 2012 procross/proclimb1100 cc 4 stroke snowmobile will perform as designed in forward gear without the reverse function utilized"...not so much for me...i was able to limp the sled the last 50 miles to the town of montmagny only able to go 30 miles an hour anything over that and it would fall into neutral. This was sunday night. we got a hotel and early the next day went to pro arctic in montmagny a big beautiful arctic cat dealer right in town..unfortunatley they said they could not cover the sled on warranty and i would have to pay out of pocket because of some international warranty...bull shit... they said i would have to bring my reciept to my dealer and he would have to get cat to pay me back wich is b.s. but what am i too do at this point im 300 miles from my truck.other than that they were very helpful pulling my sled right in and got to work on it thanks kevin..he told me that the i.d. on the forward gear had been damaged and they would have to send it out to a machine shop to be resleeved because of this it had done damage to the jackshaft which will also have to be replaced but would be fine until i got home . they put the sled back in forward and put the reverse delete kit on similar to the one every one saw on here with the collar and washer bolted on the jackshaft.. 7 hours and 480 dollars later i was back on the trail.. some of the best trails ive ever seen like super highways we made it 125 miles back to thetford mines in three hours. slept there for the night and headed back the 180 miles to the truck in vt. on tuesday.. about 60 miles away from the truck i heard the familiar sound of my gears falling into neutral and grinding to a stop the bolt pulled through the washer on the end of the jackshaft allowing the gears to slide apart and doing more damage to the jackshaft from there we hired a tow truck to drive us back to vt. but when we got to the border he said his plates were no good in the states and could not cross he dropped us at the border crossing in stanstead and we towed the sled down the highway .. no easy feat by the way. 180 dollars for the tow good luck getting that back.. i called a friend who picked us up and brought us to our truck.. I was so excited for this sled I ordered it march 9th checking the forums all summer for any news checking you tube for any new video. ordered all new gear and bags and all kinds of cool stuff had all of it layed out in the garage waiting for the new sled the sled i have dreamed of for years. The sled I didnt even get until dec. 20th I have been riding for over 30 years never anything but cat raced snocross for team arctic from 95 till 2003 i bleed green but i have never been more discouraged about this sport in my life it cost me 660 dollars that i probablly will never see again to get my sled home still broken by the way ... i want to quit..

'Sorry to hear of your problems.
While it won't help you now, I've been saying on these forums all along, that you either need to stop riding completely until 'Cat gives us a fix for this problem next Fall, or you need to change over to STM's Hyvo chain and gears.

Doing (riding) otherwise is simply foolish.

All the new Cat owners that have never had a problem should be coming on here shortly, to tell us for the hundredth time, that there sled has ran perfect. Until they have to walk a few miles in your boots, I doubt they can appreciate the level of frustration that you are going thru..and I wish they could have a little more empathy, for those that do go thru this crap. I have been there, with another brand, so I know what you are going thru. I feel sorry for the frustration and extra costs you have had to go thru, and keep us updated on how great the Arctic Cat warranty works out for you. I,m sure your going to be hearing a lot of, well, well, first time I,ve heard of that problem, and no, it isn,t covered by your 3 years of warranty. Please keep us updated on how you are treated by your own dealer, and Cat and IF you get some of the extra money you had to spend to get back home. I,ve been there, having unreliable new sleds, and I do feel for you guys. Good luck with your dealer and Cat. I cann,t believe that your warranty wouldn,t be extended to cover you in Canada. I,ll be going to the new MY 2013 spring sled show in a couple of weeks, and I,ll make a point of asking all 4 sled manufacturers there view on this, and report back once I get their answers. Just to make things clear, I am a Cat owner, and wished that all the sleds this year would of been reliable and trouble free, so all we would have to bitch about would be lack of snow, and ice.

my dealer asked for all the reciepts from the dealer in Quebec and said he would see what he could do He said he didnt know about the tow truck money but he would check..if it is not covered i dont blame him i blame cat this should not even be an issue they should just pay me back time will tell on that one. My dealer is a stand up guy who treats me very well cofiells sport and power in glastonbury ct. what i dont get is why the canadian dealers cant cover warranty work on an american sled or vise versa from what i hear. if my ford breaks down in canada is it also not covered ?

Tony, so sorry for your issues...I too have had my fair share of issues. I hope Cat steps up for you. BTW, my reverse went out this past weekend too.

Are you for real? Ya we all should have problems to understand the frustration of spending tons of cash and having a poorly designed product.

That just sucks. I feel for you.

I hope that the riding you did get in was memorable and the bump at the end will be a good story 10 years from now.

I know this is a little off topic but my rails are damaged due to loose bolts and the dealer which is trying his best is telling me that Cat will not cover them???? I feel that these sleds are a ticking time bomb!! We all buy new sleds for one reason or another but I buy one every year because I can ride with warranty because my group of guys I ride with put on a few thousand miles every year. I have already saved AC a bunch of cash due to fixing the chain case issues myself, bleeding the oil injection lines, buying an offset bar and reducing the number of shims from behind the secondary clutch by 90 thou, and rerouting wire harnesses where the wires were rubbing together. My other buddies with new cats are all having the same issues 800's, 1100T and 1100.
My question to Cat is If you don't cover any component that is damaged by a loose fastener then what would be covered because the fasteners (bolts) did not even have loctite on them from the factory????
