Default NEED IDEA's 98 xcr 440

So i just picked up a 1998 polaris xcr 440. It has a high compression trail head and has been jetted. engine is freshly rebuilt. Has the extra 10 suspension front and back. The skid has been adjusted for a more aggressive approach. It has been used for boondocking and backcountry riding and i will continue that along with some trail riding. I just bought a fully clipped 121x15x1.5 camoplast intense track.

Mainly looking for ideas to scavenge some weight off this already light sled.

Looking for a trunk delete/mountain seat set up.
Possibly a wrap for the hood.
Also any other ideas or links to products to lighten this baby up would be appreciated.379067_317397491621043_1360394750_n.jpg

Don't know if you can lighten this sled up that much without going with aftermarket components, if they are still available. This machine was geared as a race machine from the factory. There are minor tweaks that can be done for further performance enhancement that I am still learning about. Here is a great resource on this machine below. From what I have read, the first 200 pages tells you just about everything you would want to know about the machine.

XCR 440 owners.

Also, I have read about someone installing an 1.25 ripsaw track on the machine, he had to cut away some of the track paddle above the track clips for clearance with heat exchanger. You may have to do the same with yours if there is a tall paddle above the track clip.

High compression trail head? Is that like a hamburger steak?

I had one new for about 7-8 years. Never saw any aftermarket heads for them. Mine came with a trail head on it. There were factory race heads available. I think some came with them and others didn't. My guess is my dealer detuned it while setting it up knowing I wasn't racing it and just never gave me the race head. I think you need to figure out what it actually has in it. You're going to have a hard time with that track if you're putting it in that 440. Going to need to make some serious clutching and gear changes on it. They don't make any power under 5500 RPM at all.

I am from maine. the bangor area. The sled was owned by matt stone in dover foxcroft. It is clutched to 4600rpm and geared. It started its life as a sled raced by a factory polaris racer. A polaris guru from what my friend said. It was then sold to them. Where it was then trail converted. It had a full motor rebuild the race head was replaced for the trail head and it has been jetted. Just had a custom can installed. I am not a fan of the paint job i might be getting a different hood later. the rear suspension has been drilled and moved down on the tunnel 2 inches. I just had a 1.5" camoplast track installed. Track is fully clipped. Also we did have to notch some of the lugs to clear the tunnel coolers. It has a 7 inch bar riser. With a skidoo throttle. I cant remember but they may have put a ski doo brake lever on it as well. All work was done by a certified mechanic from moosehead motorsports

I remember seeing it somewhere, either listed for sale or on the Maine forum. I grew up in the Bangor area, nice to know there is another XCR Mainer around.
