Default Polaris primary clutch interchangability.

So...I am looking for a used primary clutch for an Ultra, and I plan to use a 3211080 belt. What should I be looking for? Pretty sure I want something OTHER than an ultra primary, they didn't use the wider belts, right?

I also want to make sure I put a primary on it that will still use a standard clutch puller bolt for removal.

Any of the newer clutches will work 01 to about 05. You wont be able to use the old puller that was used for all of the early indys

I machined a clutch for my 1989 650 Pro-stock sled to use a 1075 wide belt.

I see no reason why you couldn't just reshim the spider on an Ultra primary for the wider belt Jeff.
I happen to have a nearly new primary for a 98 XCR SP if you can use it.

Phil, shoot me a price for that clutch, let's see if it's in the budget. Thanks!

I actually have three clutches available.
The one that came from the 98 XCR triple triple is slightly damaged. The bolt broke and the clutch came off and hit the secondary. It was sold by a local sled part supplier as the correct one for that sled but doesn't appear to have the correct depth of crank engagement. I just checked it against a brand new P-85 I have as a spare for my XCR800.
The XCR800 clutch goes on the stub shaft I have as a disassembly holder to a depth of 32 mm as shown in the pics attached. This clutch only goes on to a depth of 37 mm from the face of the belt surface of the inner sheave to my workbench where the stub is mounted. A difference of about 5 mm or .2".

I have a different older P-85 without a date on it that does go to the proper depth of 32 mm. It's in GC. See part# in pic. I'd sell it for $150 plus shipping.

Be very careful buying clutches without knowing the depth of fit on the crank.

Thanks Don. Might be one from a 650 Indy or a 93 750 Storm. No weights in it, so didn't check belt width setup. Has narrow rollers.
