HELP HELP Rev 800 XP

Looking for some direction for my buddy.......he's got the 2010 Rev 800 XP and the engine begins to pop once under heavy load......seems to be okay if he goes into it slow.....but at mid point the popping begins........hes changed plugs,cleaned and changed pilot jet and MJ..even drained the tank thinking water in the fuel but all this and still going on.......anyone HELP

Maybe bouncing the rev limiter.....

Dont think so but will ask.......can a bad ground cause this........sled ran perfect last year....Help guys
