Just wanted to start a topic on the new 4 stroke by ski-doo! Any reviews or test rides with this engine? The info on ski-doo site kind of non informal. Just said 60 horsepower and 29 mpg's, wich sounds great but to say its a 600 with that kinda of horsepower is kinda of misleading. I think they should have called it a 500 at most.

i think its a 600cc fourstroke engine. with 60 horse, it will pull like most 440s i assume.

They built it to replace the old 550f that has 57hp. so it doesn't even come close to a 600 liquid. or even a 500 liquid. it appears to get double the mileage of the old 550 and you would probably only go through a couple quarts of oil a year (i can't find the oil capacity anywhere online). it sure would be nice to go a whole weekend on a tank of fuel.

It will be a sleeper, I'm sure someone will build a turbo for it.

its a very interesting concept. i think its gunna compete in the phazer market roughly 80 hp small cc 4 stroke. Not trying to bash just asking a question isnt the point of buying a 550 fan the price? who would pay 8100 for an entry level sled? Kinda pricey. But hey i like the idea its cool.

yeah i agree, i can see them holding there value really well though. as most 4 strokes do. it seems like something you would give your kids and say ' have fun trying to blow this one up"

yea concept is nice, the price point not so nice, they have to pay for the technology. I figured it would be a great sled for the wife. Guess I'll have to wait for the snowmobile show for this area to come and check it out. Hope they have one or have more info to read up on.

Unfortunately, it is what it is. Thanks to the EPA, the 550 Fan will probably be gone for 2012 and they needed an entry level motor. The reason it costs so much is the weak US Dollar versus the Canadian Dollar and the Euro. (Not to get political, but you can thank Obama's mega-spend and borrow policies for that).

What is really cool about the ACE XP is that it weighs 442 lbs. dry!!! Which is about 100 lbs. less than the real world weight of a Phazer.

My dealer told me the new ACE 600 is the first of many engines from this family. There should be larger displacement, and forced induction in the near future. This engine would have made a lot mre sense with 80hp. At 60 it makes me wonder......
