I am looking for people who have put on high miles with this sled, what issues have you encountered with the engine and the sled in general. I have rode the 800 E and liked it but I trail ride and tour and as much as I like the power of the 800 I am looking for reliability, endurance and high fuel milage and if that means choosing the 600 over they 800 then I will. So if you own a 600, and if you have a couple thousand miles or more on your sled please let me know how it does on fuel/oil consumption, how it handles trial and or tour riding duty and what kinds of problems have you had with either motor and or the seld in genral. Speak to the sleds strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks

K

7200 miles no issues. 100-102 MPH groomed trails/110-112 plowed roads with cobra 1.35 track. 14 MPGs passing everything.

We have 2 -09-600 E-tec Gades...They each have 10,760kms (6725 miles) on them...I had a computer problem with mine in the first few hundred kms...since then they have been trouble free..Changed the plugs and belts, sliders.. @ the beginning of this season...We trail ride 95% of the time, and the other 5% is marking trails @ the beginning of the season...They average 23mpg(cnd) and use 1/2 a tank of oil in 700kms....Totally amazing sleds....Our snow came 3 weeks ago, other wise we would have alot more kms on...

This doesn't count as "high mileage" compared to what some others are posting, but I've got about 1750 on my '09 GSX LTD (600 eTech). I bought it used at the beginning of this season with 540 miles and I put the rest on myself. It's been 100% trouble free both for me and the previous owner (a riding buddy so I know where the sled had been before I bought it). Now this part may be my imagination, but even though it was already broken in when I got it, I'd swear it runs even stronger and smoother now than it did at 540 miles. Monday while I was out, I was thinking "this thing feels like an electric motor" (only sounds better). Gas mileage has been 18 - 20 MPG depending on how I ride and oil consumption has been approximately half a tank per 500 miles. I've never let it go below half, but if you wanted to you probably could actually get 1000 miles on a tank of oil.

I'm a believer!

Might want to get your dream-O-meter checked... Is this a stock 600 etec?

If my 500SS would do over 96 MPH on the GPS, why wouldn't a more powerful 600 HO be good for 100 to 102 MPH?

No--SPI pipe/can; V-force reeds; Howard's stage 2 clutch kit; and what the heck (probably doesn't do anything on a 600)-a Bondi Box. With just the SPI pie/can and Straightline Perf. clutch kit, a standard Etec with 1" track could outrun me last year up top. I believe many Etecs can find 100/110 MPH on trail/ice road though. So did my SDI before that. Also I am modded: Low carb/high protein diet=8% Bodyfat=170#s=fast sled.

your 500ss has more cc's than the etec... I don't doubt 100-102, it was the 110-112 i'd have to see on a stock etec. :beer_cheers:
