I just picked up my first 4 stroke today. It's a 2007 IQ FST Turbo. The person I bought it from had overheated the motor and warped the head. He had the motor rebuilt from the dealership but ran out of money to have it finished. I bought the sled from him today for $1500 it just needs to be put back together. The machine is mint and he said it only has 200 miles on it. I'm looking for a good shop manual to put this thing back together. Does anyone have a used one I could buy or tell me where I could get a new one. I would even borrow one from someone and pay shipping both ways.
Thanks |

Why in the World would an engine with 200 miles on it need a rebuild?

I'm going to take a ride up to my Polaris dealer and see if I can borrow one or just buy a new one. Man there are a lot of wires and hoses compared to a 2 stroke. And this thing is heavy compared to my 03 F7. I did ride one a couple years ago it was a 09 and the weight didn't seem to be that big of an issue. It seemed pretty fast we were running them about 1/4 mile and I was able to stay out in front of my friends 08 xp 800. He was pissed that he was getting beat by this tank.

Well I got most of the sled together. I was able to turn it over real quick. It has more miles than I thought but still not bad. 470 miles. What a pain in the ass putting it back together. First I got the motor in and then realized the wire was not attached to the starter. That was fun trying to connect the wire while the motor was in. I have no extra wires now everything seems to be plugged. Only question I have now is there is a hose fitting on the back side of the motor. It's small and points up. Does this go to the oil air seperator mounted up near the oil tank? It's nothing like working on a 2 stroke.
And why would you leave the fuel rail off? It was on the motor when I put it in. |
