? about wood heat in my cabin.

i heat both my cabin and home with woodburners. make sure your insurance will cover it. the one at home burns 24/7, and i clean the pipe once a year because i burn hotter fires. The cabin pipe i clean twice a year because i burn low heat.

I heat my 2400 sqft house with wood and try to burn HOT. The hotter (within the limits for the stove/chimney), the cleaner your chimney will be. Had mine swept after a year of heating and he got maybe two cups of ash - No creosote. Said to keep doing what I'm doing and call him in two years.

Nothing beats a wood fire for heating your house.

Is it a combustible floor? Depending on the what it requires for an r value for floor protection just cement backer board and tile might not cut it, they really don't offer much in way of protection.. I had to source micore 300 fibre board

Take pictures of all steps as your insurance company may want to see them..

Run the pipe straight up thru the roof, any 90 degree bends will make it not heat as well and alot of rust, and crap builds up in the outer bend. It will draft better with a straight pipe.

i have one 90 degree bend that leads to my chimney, which has a stainless liner, then bend isnt any worse than the liner when i clean it, probably because its closer to the stove.

Make sure you put a chimney on it and you should be good to go. Learn how to light a fire city boy so you do not fill the cabin with smoke when you go to light it. LOL good luck..

I myslf perfer a top loading wood stove as burning logs do not roll out of them across the floor. they also take up less space and crank out heat like crazy. like this one.
