Default 07 Phazer FX - takes 40 Seconds to Start / Then SUPER HIGH Idle ???

Hey Guys

i have a double problem i believe......

Purchased a 2007 Phazer FX with 2,000 Miles

It takes approx 40 seconds of cranking before it fires when it's cold. . .

I've been told they are hard starting but 40 seconds can't be right - Suggestions ??? someone suggested a fuel relay ??? i could not locate a fuel relay in the microfiche.......

Then after it starts the red temp light in the middle stays on for approx 3.5 minutes mean while the idle creeps up from approx 2750 to 3500 . . .

after approx 4 minutes the yellow temp light goes on ( left of the red light ) and then shortly after the warning comes on and i shut her down........ Suggestions ???

current temp approx 45 degrees

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks guys !

The idle is just a tad high, I do not know why the yellow light comes on and I've never had it take that long like 10 below it starts slow but then it gets faster and fires up.

Thanks for the reply.... i've been doing some research on here and i've come to the conclusion i need to replace my spark plugs.....

that is only part of my problem though.....

Why is my RED Temp light on from when i turn the key to accessory until approx 3 1/2 minutes of it starting / running.......???

Then the red light goes off / normal high idle for a while and then the yellow temp light goes on for approx a minute - then the overheat symbol illuminates on the Digital Display.........

all within 5 or 6 minutes of start up / approx 45 degrees

any idea on the red temp light ?

thx!

IMPORTANT DO NOT touch the throttle until the red temp light goes off, that is its way of telling you its warming up, just don't touch it. That's the way it is supposed to be. I don't know why the yellow temp light comes on after the red one goes out. Are you low on oil, gas? anything?

there is a computer upgrade for this problem just trying too find out if yamaha covers it as for the overheat light have you checked your antifreeze level and lastly mine was taking that long too start then eventually no start the plugs get fouled from short runs you will need new ones and dont start it unless your going sledding

First off, how can there be a red temp light and a yellow temp light? Isnt the yellow a warning light? I havent had mine for over 2 years now, but it seems like the yellow light came on when fuel was low or when a problem code is flashing.

Yeah the yellow one is just a "caution" symbol I've had the same experience with just gas or error code

Thanks guys...

Okay - i changed the plugs last night and it started in like 15 seconds... ( much better than 40 ) and that takes into account the fact that the fuel line had to prime i'm sure.......

while all apart - i noticed the antifreeze reservior is empty - so that's why its overheating so quickly........

i'm still struggling with the high idle.... tried turning the idle down but it doesn't seem to do anything.... i guess my next step is to investigate the idle adjuster and see why it is responding.
