1989 TRX 350d. It has a newly rebuilt head and cam chain on it. Compression is good. Valves adjusted to service manual specs, Starts very good but runs rough, smokes like the choke is on (It's not) and will not idle no matter what. Idle adjust does nothing. The carb has been gone through and cleaned and set to factory specs. If I try to move it it's like its flooding out. Any suggestions?

Airbox isn't back on yet. I think I'll go through the carb once more. Maybe a blocked air passage???

Make sure the choke isn't froze up and the cable just moves making it look like the choke is working.

Were the valve guides and seals serviced? is it oil smoke or fuel smoke?(you'll be able to smell excess fuel if its a carb/choke issue) |

choke is stuck on more than likely. if the choke plunger is steel/brass change it to the new plastic/composit type. they make a kit, i did one on my buds old 300 honda. was about $50 canadian. if not it could be the needle/seat as someone else stated. those bikes have the tank under the seat and the carbs are fed by a fuel pump, not gravity like most bikes. good luck.

Ok, Carb rebuilt with all honda parts. New Float too. Bike is getting fuel. Valve clearance rechecked to .008 spec, lots of bright blue spark, plenty of compression, wind it over and I get nothing. Not a kick, not a sputter, nothing. Just like the ignition was turned off. I'm getting to the end of my rope with this one.
