I was just on the MSA website and the local club is reporting the following.

Newberry Trail Report
Tahquamenon Snowmobile Association Updated: 2/2/2012
Base: 4 inches
Snowfall Past 24 hours: 0 inches
Last Grooming: January 30, 2012
Current Trail Conditions: Good

Groomers Report:
There is good snow north to the falls and pine stump with good late season riding conditions.
The trails are in fair to good condition. Be careful on corners as the warm weather has made the trail icy.
Trail #9, to Pine Stump Jct. is in good condition and the trail gets better as you go farther North and West.
Bert reported Trail #45 to Co. Rd. 500 is in good condition up to the falls.
The South trail #9/2 is in fair to good condition. Jeff got as far as the airport and had a flat on the groomer. We will get it fixed today and head South tonight. The trail to Rexton/Epoufette, and Trout Lake is in good condition.
Be careful on the curves, due to the warm up, they may be icy.
The cerfew in the Village of Newberry is 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M..
Rainbow Lodge on Trail #8 will CLOSE Jan. 7 2012until April. There is a gas pump logo on the new trail map at Rainbow Lodge, as the map went to print before I new they were closing. There is no gas between the lower falls and Pine Stump Jct. or North Store.
TASA Meeting Tues. 01/24/2012 groomer barn,
9017 M-123
Newberry,MI

I can see businesses wanting people to show up with lousy conditions but why the club?

Hell, I ride in Indiana...your good to fair is my excellent. LOL

Trail 9 goes right through the town of Newberry, You would be riding on pavement & dirt. No question, it would get better the further north You get from Newberry.

I know, I would not post anything negative about the trails or trail system in the Michigan forum. The groomers, club guys take it personally, blast You & like flies to shit the rest swarm in.

Heading to Quebec for 3 days of socialist sledding. The trails are free for the weekend as an intro to their trails. No snow in Southern Ontario so it will be worth the 6 hour drive each way. Sounds like they have lots of snow. It should be good.

Well you were right about Newberry. Just got back in today after 3 days of riding in and around Newberry. We stayed in town but ended up using it as our hub and trailered North and West. The roads were too bad to ride out of town but we ended up finding some decent trails. We were able to put on about 400 miles in three days and everyone seem pleased. The trail up to the falls was pretty good but started getting snirty closer to the falls. Rode up to GM but once again as you approached town the trails were getting beat and the same with Seney. All in all it was a pretty good trip and just happy to see some snow. Also, plenty of good riding off trail as well.

Glad You guys had a good time & got some miles in.There is no riding like the U P.......Great people & trails!

If You're waiting for perfect conditions this year, You will be sitting at home.
Gotta take the good with the bad.
I know, I beat the shit out of My sled this year on trails I normally wouldn't have considered riding on, but in the end everyone had a good time & will make for great stories in years to come when were waist high in snow.

580 miles riding from just West of Ottawa Ontario into Quebec. 260 miles on the first day which was also the first day of riding for the year. 2012 Rush is a big improvement over the 2010. 800 is a strong motor but not overpowering. Really smooth through the entire powerband. Quebec had a permit free weekend so we bought a one day pass for Friday and tried out their trails. Good collection of trails. Challenging trails through the hills, a number of good lakes to open up the sleds. Marking was sketchy with many intersections missing signage. Without a GPS we wouldn't have been able to find the trail on two occasions and gas in another. The snow was pretty decent but a few warm days without snow will have the corners getting icy or bare.

The Ontario trails are better but since there snow doesn't start until North Bay Quebec is a good option. Met very few sleds on Friday. Saturday, the trails were busy. Sunday we saw less than 10 sleds from 8 until noon. In fact I bet we saw more sleds in the busiest hour Saturday than all day Friday or Sunday.
