Footwell wire

I recently purchased an '03 Pro X 600. I was in the garage today doing some polishing on the tunnel and I noticed a wire with a female end bunched up inside the footwell on the clutch side. Anybody know what that is for?

Could poossibly be for a heated shield, Trace the wire and see if it goes to voltage regulator.
Does it look factory would be my other question?

My curiosity didn't go that far. It looked factory, but I'll have to look again next time I'm in the garage.
