Bought sled over the summer and its my first 4 stroke. Ran all summer when I tried, and now it doesn't get any fuel. I turn the key and don't hear a fuel pump (not sure if im supposed to). I have a shop manual, but its not very helpful. I checked all lines from tank to fuel pump and no clogs. I found 3 relays above right foot well, none seemed to be associated with fuel. Any ideas?

thanks, 2005 rs rage, 3 cyl

Our rages have done that. Like the felllow said blow into it or make a fiitting to fit gas tank opening and give it some air from the air compressor, to force the fuel up the lines to the pump. plowking

No, not in the winter with constant use. It happens after being stored for long periods of time without being started. plowking

Cool

HI My 08 vector does not want to start after sitting all summer. it cranks and cranks and cranks till battery is almost Dead. This is what i have done and it saves lots of problems. I drilled two 3/8 holes [one on each side of air box] in line with the intakes, Installed vinyl plugs in the holes ,when i want to start the engine,in the start of the season remove them and shoot in gas or that no no starting fluid. Starts in 5 seconds with full choke and saves the starter.battery, and other problems. Yamaha Says we dont need to do this, but some of us know better....No more hard starting. Tony

Mine did it last year. Like stated above the fuel pumps need fuel in them to prime up. But, not only that, you should put in good fuel. They are very finicky for the first start of the season if you have old crappy gas in them. Get some new premium and get it flowing in there too. Once it burns off that old crap gas it should run like a top.

my yamaha attack does the same thing sometimes, it is the fuel relay it gets moisture in it and it does not send any power to the fuel pump, happens on colder days, ifyou warm up the relay with a hair dryer it will start, but that kinda sucks big time!!!
