Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the '05 RX 1 jackshaft bearing? I dont see where it is greasable and wondering how long it will last!! I'd rather replace it long before it leaves me stranded!!

You can get at it and give it fresh grease.

The cover on the bearing needs to be CAREFULLY pried off with a small screwdriver, like the kind that comes in an eyeglasses repair kit. Pry it off carefully, and clean out the old stuff with WD-40, then blow it out. Repack it with grease and put the cover back on.

The magic number is about 4000 miles mine blew out on the lake in my back yard thanks to the snowmobile gods i wasn't out in the boonies of the U.P.. my buddies blew at 3800 on the second day of a 5 day trip no fun. The bearing new is $38.00 at the local dealer and it takes about an hour to change OR apart comes the gear case off comes the brake assembly and out comes the whole jackshaft lots of work for $38.00 just change it every year and don't worry about its the best $38.00 you'll ever spend.

The bearing can be removed and replaced from the clutch side, without having to do anything other than loosen the track, remove the bolts and snap ring then off comes the bearing?? Definately need to change mine after reading the "magic number". I have around 4000 miles on mine and also live on a lake!!!!!!

Can you describe the procedure to replace the jackshaft bearing without disassembling the chaincase etc and removing the jackshaft????

I was just going to clean and lube it up. My sled had 3400 miles and I've never done anything to it. Now I'm getting worried! Can the bearing be repleced without major work? Should you replace both bearings (1 each side) at the same time?? I'll probably just look at it and clean it up. Supposedly once its cleaned up and lubed well you can turn the track easily by hand.
