That's just scary! I hunt in southern MN and its slug only. We hunt private land, which the farmer was totally against hunting. The people before us used high power rifles during slug season and shot 2 of his cows. DNR had to get involved. was a huge mess
Even with his land being posted, we still have close calls quite often. His land borders a sliver of public land on the extreme far side. It's crazy how many people try to fit on that small plot of land. We talked to some guys dragging a doe out that had 5 holes in it!!!

Sounds like fond during lac county is having a meeting and they may not allow rifles. The townships have the final say I guess.

My part of Dane County was shotgun only since I first started hunting ('70's) up until a few years ago when rifles were allowed. Farthest I've hit a deer with a slug and open iron sights with a smooth slug barrel was 80 yds. Had to track that one a ways. I really don't have a need for much more range than that based on the lay of my land and where I like to sit. I've got few neighbors houses and buildings I have to keep in mind for some shots. Using a rifle wouldn't be the best for my situation. I can honestly say I've never seen a deer so far away that I wish I had rifle to reach it.

I recently upgraded to a sabot slug barrel and shells along with a Vortex Diamondback variable scope. This is perfect for my situation.

But if you read the article, the county rules means nothing, it is up to the townships, so we will see what happens.

Now that would be bad if the townships could set the rules for rifle or shotgun. Man if you had a 40 in one township then another 40 in the next door township that butt up to each other but one has shotgun then the other rifle, I can see the writing on the wall already.
I live just 1 mile from a lake association and you cant even hunt anything let alone deer. They won't even let you hunt with even bows let alone rifles.

Sounds like the county is trying to get all the townships to stick together just for that reason. I have no fricken clue what township I am in at any one time. It would be a nightmare.
