Very good question!

My opinion is that VAST management must have thought they could handle it on their own. Didn't want the population sending in comments that maybe detrimental to the process.

What irks me is that VAST didn't even come out with it. Didn't say there was problem. THe members had to figure it own on their own. This project was supposed to happen late summer/early fall. Trail closed another winter.

Now the fight is on.

This group does have its eye the Nulhegan too. They hate OHRV's. Will do anything to stop riding on public lands.

Snowmobiling is very important to the NEK. The Chamber of Commerce and other interested groups should be putting pressure on Sanders and Dean as well as state reps to make this point. Why isn't there a trail to the Visitors Center on 105? It would make a nice place to leave from and warm up on those cold days. They have a nice open inside area and wood stove.

I believe VAST realizes they made a big mistake on this. Matt did reply and seemed genuine that he would seek emails and build a data base.

The forum would be a nice tool to rally members, but quiet in the summer when these things conviently are opened for public comment. These tree huggers aren't stupid and gain pleasure with even delays or bogging people down with a myraid of requests.

Will be interested to see if this topic is discussed in the next VAST news. Everyone else has been silent besides Matt. Hope they understand the importance and that we could be fighting for our sport, going forward.

Out of curiosity. Wouldn't this news be in the local newspapers? News being Comment period, potential trail closures. Locals might be of great service to keep their eyes and ears open going forward.

Even post rumors. Admin could flag or make sticky.

Forget the mass email thing. I just did my TMA for 3 sleds on saturday. They never asked for my email address.

Access to the Sylvio Conte Center on Rte 105 has been part of the discussion for two years. The Fed's want it and are writing it into their plan. There are several private landowners accross the road that aren't interested in sleds crossing their property. So, there are a few hurdles ahead. Don't look for it to happen before the 2013-14 season.

There's a line on the TMA form for ones e-mail address. Shame on the vendor for not asking for it or having the member fill out the form themselves.

Yesterday I spoke with Alexis at the Sled Expo and she informed me that the CCC road in Plymouth will also not be repaired in time for this season all though she said it would be fixed for next season. So, for those who ride the Plymouth, Mt Holly, Shrewsbury area it will be an issue getting from Plymouth, Ludlow area over the back side of Killington.
