Yes you can 4=wheel out of spv,but to be legal you have to go south toward patten,we have 100 of trails in and around patten, but because of the land owners in and around shin pond, they like sleds but not wheelers. you can ride on any Irvin roads with the Maine stickers that you can buy when you redgester your bike,Island Falls Sherman and patten all have sweet trails, that take you to shin pond, just no trails that are legal north west of them, toward mattagammon.

Glad I could help, yes I would stay in Sherman, only problem with the motel next to Irvin is you can only 4=wheel toward the DOT shed acrossed from Kelley's shell,or take a chance and run up over the hill on rt. 158 toward Sherman mills,or down towne near the center where north street and the rotary circle is,at that point the trails are marked and the roads are also atv accessible, marked with big steel signs on telephone poles, its to bad you cant find a place to stay in patten, our trails are a little more marked, and set up for side by sides, now there is Katahdin lodge just 10 miles north of patten, very nice place, everything is there, trails leave from the front door, its in Morel plantation, near Knowles corner. Good luck, not sure about outter state reg. maybe a weekend pass, call ahead to inland parks and rec.Or you could call the hanger restraint in Patten, they know what going on,sense they run our club now,i am sure craig morse could help with lodging and reg. of atv's,they also have good food. lol..

Well the fall foliage is wonderful, but bugs seem to be at there worse in the spring time,we are headed up this coming sunday for a week,to bad you guys were not up this coming week, wife and I would show you some wonderful riding, our area is some of the best riding around, and we ride island Falls area a lot to,and they have lots of great 4-wheeling trails as well as snow sled trails, now back to our belt blowers, man I have been fighting with this sled all last year, once I put franks belt guard on,at least I felt better if and when I did blow a belt,i would still have my left knee attached to my limbs as before, but darn belst at near 200 bucks a pop, make you say wtf cat, come on man, help us out,but I love this sled a lot,so I am willing to put up with this shit, plus find a fix myself. hey good luck with your motel choices, some of what I sent you sound preety good. Pete

thanks Pete, i do love the area and i have ridden that area on sleds many times. i also have his guard and belly pan and probable will get other things after i find out if cat will have any answers to this problem. i started using aftermarket belts after blowing 3 cat belts, i was running the carbon fiber belt they seem to last about the same and they were only 79 bucks and much easier to clean up, because when they blow they blow into chunks with no strings. are you making a trip late sep or oct? would love to meet up!

yes I have and do run mainly aftermarket belts, late last year HPS ran out of 082 replacement belts so I looked to see if they had a slightly longer belt that would work, and there stock cat t660 turbo 048 belt fit nice, its longer softer and much cheaper 80 bucks vrs 195 and it still works good,so after speaking to some on HCS about some Carlisle pro belts which fit this 048 replacement,i found some on e-bay for 50 bucks a piece its the Ultimax3 p/n 144-4616u3 so I have two of them to try this year, and a yammie secondary hopefully to fit up to one of franks m300 shafts. Keep in touch. pete
