Default Allsport Performance, Hermon - Shady Operation?

Hi All,

Just looking for some feedback on Allsport Performance / Maine Guns in Hermon. I had a firearm shipped to them for a FFL transfer and I cannot get in touch with them. The firearm was delivered to them on 1/21. Since then I have called everyday multiple times and every time I call it goes to the answering machine. I've left 4 messages since 1/22 and have not received a call back as of yet.

I am out of town for work until mid-week probably so I cannot go there in person to see what the problem is.

Has anyone else had any sort of negative experiences with them?

Thanks,
-Mark

I went there a few days ago just to do a shelf check for ammo. Coming away, I'm not sure what to think, but if I were you I would just go there and get the transaction completed and walk away. He had 2 polymer AR-15 lowers built up that he could have sold when I walked in. He chose to hang on to them for some reason. His business, but you can't make money by sending someone away empty handed. Needless to say, I've been more impressed with other places. He is open, I just think he is over his head.

Hmm. That's strange. Did he give any insight as to why he wouldn't sell them? Makes me wonder if my firearm will even be there when I arrive....

Fred is a real good guy, he is always available by phone or email and normally at his shop during the week and saturdays. He is a one man show and trying to expand his firearms business during one of the busiest times in recent history. His prices are better than anyone for both guns and sled / atv accessories.

Pretty simple, if you want to save some money you might have to deal with the shortcomings of someone trying to expand a small business. Want better customer service go elswhere and expect to pay for it.

I'd have to beg to differ on that part - he hasn't once answered the phone or returned any of my messages. Customer service is what expands a business; not customer neglect. As a business owner myself, I would have never been able to be profitable by not returning customer's calls.

If you can't return a customer's call within a week then perhaps it's time to hire some help or reorganize to a level that renders itself manageable.

I would never even consider a major purchase from someone like that going forward. I'd rather pay a little more and know that is a problem arises that the phone won't be left unanswered, and I can't imagine anyone of a rational thought process thinking differently. Sometimes saving a few dollars just isn't worth it.

No idea who he is or what kind of business he runs but EVERY gun dealer I know hates it when someone buys a gun on the internet and has it shipped to them WITHOUT giving them a chance to match the price. I have a feeling this may be why he isnt going out of his way to serve you! Being a businessman myself I see your point believe me..... but I also see his if he is a small one man show and has regular customers to serve. just my .2

I've been in 6 different gun shops this week and bought over $2000. worth of guns and supplies. None were swamped and all were more than willing to help,,,,and sell me what I wanted. AR's are long gone though. Plenty of pistols. Ammo is a real issue though.
