No, I am reporting on the conditions of the lake that are normally traveled. Obviously the ice varys, some areas are never safe. I am sorry if reporting the conditions of the lake bother you... I guess I will just keep it to myself.

Hmmm I dont see any one saying anything about the thickness of the ice, I just saw the report for 2 inches of snow and a statement that they would go out and measure the ice soon.
I love how a simple statement can lead to such stupid discussions.... and here I am continuing it! bahaha

Rangeley is huge...could have 10" in a cove and deadly open water or even worse just a skim of ice right around the point of the cove.
Theres good reason everyone hesitates to discuss thickness. It is life or death. Thank you Passo for being cautious and speaking up. Several examples of reasons for caution are still being searched for on the bottom of the lake today. Know this....Theres also good ice and bad ice in terms of strength. Ice is not an exact science for sure if you ever ice fished much. Thickness is just part of it and even that varies....alot. Mark Last edited by eastmark; 01-08-2013 at 04:43 PM. |
