Default Is Snowmobiling Really that Expensive?

I did a little experiment this season and kept track of every cent spent on every trip I went on. (because I have that kind of time). From diesel fuel to gas, border fees, hotels, entertainment etc ,etc.. and even counted every can of pop I bought for mix. With the km's I rode and the money I spent I figure it runs me $1.26 per km.

Does that include the price of the sled or any accessories that you bought. Trail permit and insurance.

For Christ sakes I knew everyone would dissect this and make it complicated. Maybe I assumed you all would take into account that a sled, gear and ins. wasn't factored in and the $1.26/km was just trip specific. Every sports initial start up cost is expensive but once that's done, see where I'm going with this now?

My sled definitely costs more to run that my 22ft bowrider with a 5.0 mpi merc. Sips fuel, maintenance is minimal cuz I do it myself, no insurance, trail pass, etc.

My brothers 27 foot fountain fever with a 570 cid engine is a different story however. 11 liter oil changes every 10 hours. 6 liters of gear oil ever 10 hours, you might as well be throwing money in the air when you run it hard. lol

Both boating and sledding can be done cheap with very little compromising if you're truly interested in boating and sledding. If you're only interested in blowing away your "friends" with your latest purchase it's damn expensive.

The price of FUN.

I guess I would rather be having fun spending money on big boy toys then to be sitting around the house talking about how cold it is outside and the wife adding things to my honey do list.
