It has some nice features and a handy tool when it works properly. It shows section's of #17 are not groomed contrary to what others that traveled it on the weekend have reported...

I agree with nbren. Here is my take onthe new system, of course you know that we were one of three clubs that had a similar system for the last three years prior.
Pros:
1. Excellet tool for administration, especially at club level
2. tracks speed
3. stop time
4. down time
5. running time
6. total hours of up time
7. two modes of tracking
a. Satelite (iridium) when out of rangeof cell coverage (fault is that it -------only updates every 1/2 hour) But to be fair it is more expensive per----- spot.
b. Cell tracking (beautiful tool as it updates every 2 minutes)
8. Comunication between operator and administrator.
a. Panic switch (red) for emergency
b. Breakdown or communication switch (green)
c. Buzzer where administrator can buzz the operator> (not sure how this
works yet)
9. There are a lot of other features there that are still to be discovered both
by the nbfsc and club administrators. (just a learning curve, but I'm happy
with what I see so far)
10. Some good features with the snowmobiler trackers on the map

Cons: Not many so far
1. For the snowmobiler using the map for tracking trails and when they were done. It is very slow when opening up the map, especially when you try to Zoom in on a particullar area. Hope thay can fix this. I think that the problem here is that there is too much info province wide that the system has to gather. They may have to consider deviding the province up in quardrants.
2. The grooming info does not get transfered to the map quick enough.
example: a groomer could have done a particular section of trail today, but this valuable peice of info does not get tranfered to the map until 24 hours past the grooming time. I'm not sure why this is, but it is a fact.
3. The colors on the tracking map are to close to looking the same.
4. Not much info if any on how to use any features whatsoever. Not a na na Just fly on the seat of your pants. I hope this can change, because as we progress down the road, the users are going to form their own opinions good & bad, which could be detrimental to the whole operation. Right now I'm just plugging & playing. There is just so much info to be had, but how do we get it?
Just my opinions and others may disagree.
Don

I see our club's trails are wrong. Once we start grooming luckily it will be updated (we have been trying for 3 years to get our info on the federation map(s) right). I understand they will make the federation maps from this info.

The reason why the map was shut down was the update of the color coding of the trails. There were at least three colors that were very close to be looking the same. They modified it last night. Another thing as STX pointed out is that ther are a lot of trail errors. Another thing is the red for trail closed after 6 days. There are some trails that may not require grooming in that period. There should be either no red or at least extend it for a few weeks. I'm not sure why there is a 12 hour green because it only gets updated after 12 hours or longer. I guess we have to be patient with the process going forward.

The trip planner feature is kind of neat (green and red sled). Unfortunately when playing around with it if you wanted to go from Berwick to Chipman it would take you around the southern part of the province and via Miramichi to get there. Trail 15 doesn't exist (although it has been on the map for 2-3 years) LOL!

Like the Boss said: I guess we have to be patient with the process going forward.
