Unhappy

I am in the middle of building a Vintage racer, and would like a few comments!

I am building a 71 Starcraft 340 Competition, it is a complete teardown, and am hoping to have the cowl painted by the time the races are here. I have less than one month. (AND NO, I AM NOT GOING TO PAINT IT YELLOW) I was thinking all black with the stock Decals Yellow........... so they don't think it is a Ski-doo.

So, my first question is............... I have a choice of motors, I can run the SA340SS, or the 290SS. I think the one HP difference between the two makes me want to run the 340, unless you guys know something I don't.

Second, Studs and carbides...........where should I start? Do I want it stuck to the ice? Or able to slide? I have 75 1/2" picks I found, I was thinking one every window, is that about right?
And carbides? 2"?

Any speed tricks would be great too, if you have messed with the Sachs.
