1980 kawasaki 440

what does it take to swap the engine in this sled, the stater and ignition is bad on the original , im going to replace the engine with another 440 and use the original for parts

is there anything i should be warned about these engines?

what are the steps to replace the engine?

Your question needs more info included. What year engine are you replacing, 1980? what engine are you replacing it with, make, model, and year.

not that hard to do, first drain all the coolant, then rad, hoses and wires, carbs, pipes and stuff like that, pull the clutch off and there will be a bunch of bolts behind there, thn the other engine mounts.

not hard but you wil need a clutch puller and bled the oil system when puttin it back in.

its a 1980 engine in it and im replacing it witha 1980 kawasaki engine

I think Sledaholic meant for you to be more specific as in: What model of 1980 Kawasaki do you have? Intruder, Invader, etc? Also, what model engine are you trying to swap in? Intruder, Invader, etc? It is almost impossible to swap a liquid-cooled engine into a fan chassis.

You're going to change the whole engine because of the stator???? Did you know Arctic Cat parts fit Kawasaki's? Kawasaki at one time supplied engines for Arctic Cat, and Arctic Cat supplied Kawasaki with suspension.

sorry its actually a 1978 drifter 440 and im replacing it with an engine out of another 78 drifter 440 because the whole stater mount is broken

OK then, that would be agood reason to change it! Arctic cat parts still fit! Your suspension is the same as the AC lynx.

The Drifter has coolant??? LOL
