So all my buddies have been busting me for picking up a 09 Nytro. They keep saying its heavy and all the usually bs about four strokes. Any good comebacks that I can say to them to show that yamaha four strokes are top of the line and better than two strokes?

What's that peice of wood doing under your sled....mommy give you sheat for leaking oil and coolant on the lawn...Tell her to relax, since it's the only time it will actually start.
Typin on ur phone is a pain no doubt..... but if you cannot decipher that text then my spellcheck is the last thing YOU need to worry about.
Theres actually alot of folks whos mind can complete words by seeing a few letters..... im sure you know what im talkin bout there. Are you not one of us?
To bring this back on topic...
How about a REAL arguable reason why yam 4s is better than 2s
Ill start with one or 2 .
1. Yamaha 4s program has been in place and developing motorcycle engines as long as many companys have been building sleds .... and so far the ONLY company to cast a transless case/block for a 1 liter motorcycle engine. A basic engine platform thats been proven for some time. So naturally its going to be very reliable. Because it has yeeeeeears into it already. And all the spinoff motors have the distinct advantage of yamahas vast known technology/tooling and production abilities
That should be readable and descride why yamaha is a long long way ahead of ALL manu's in the 4s catagory.. and in saying that... i cant believe cat/zuki havent come with a re cased gixxer 1000 in the 9 years yamms been doin it.
Far as 2 strokes. .... they are inarguably the best basic platform for output vs. Weight/size. (Yamaha RD500 v4 2stroke ring a bell. ? ) Yes they without doubt require more attn to keep happy .. but thats the price you pay for havin all that power in such a small and brutally simple box.
So the answer to your question. Is ultimately up to you. What fits YOUR needs better. And makes it completely subjective..
You could tell them with all this low end power it will tow a fishouse or a groomer without smoking a belt way better than the new lightweight performance machines. Or It only feels heavy when it's on the trailer. My favorite of all......It has good power in the 800 class. If you like it who cares what someone else thinks. Enjoy it for what it is. Joe.

This is the best post on here about 4st vs 2st.:fistpump2:
I've run both as most have that run Yamaha's, I'm on my second 4 stroke and have had great luck with it, a couple of the first year production flaws in the first one and a burnt up stator were my only hicups for 15000kms. I also got 16000kms out of my SRX without a rebuild and it had 18++++ on it now and is still going strong. I have had very few issues with any sled I have owned but I do look after my stuff better than most. My wife's 600Vmax has 12000kms on it and she won't let me sell it to upgrade her.
The power and sounds are the biggest difference, smooth hard pull all the way is alot nicer than any 2 stroke and the exhaust note is intoxicating. Other than that, I don't find that big a difference really, my 4 stroke gets the same fuel mileage as my SRX and my last 600 Polaris. I have never owned a Cat and not for any specific reason other than thier build quality is not at the level Yamaha or polaris is at but they do work well and the 2012 Cat's look great. Never owned a Shi Doo, and never will , they work good when they work, build quality is still the bottow of the heap and a fight I had with Ski doo over a blown motor on a new sled with 280kms on it made sure I would never own one.
All in all, if they work like they should, don't give the owners any grief and you are happy with the sled, whatever make, then keep it. If your not happy with you current sled try something different and see if that makes you happy. If I wasn't happy with my Attak I'd be riding a Polaris 800 SB 136.
don't care just ride the damn things i have all brands that i ride with and can't say one is a bigger pos than the other, i like my apex and really for the money i've spent on suspension repairs over the last 7 years could most likely rebuilt 2 doo 800's , as for handling properly set up and get the pine logs that yamaha calls ski's off and put something decent on apex can handle just fine but again 4 stroke is a little more top heavy (cams valves t bodys )takes a little more body english to make it go around corners as for the weight issue my 121 apex compared to a rev is marginal and a xp loos to be 85 lbs wet weight there all heavy was huffin and puffin pullin a xp outta the buckwheat and again with the vector so in the end as far as i am concerned as long as the grooup makes it to the resteraunt for bevs and eats all is good
but not doing, thus the creation of this thread:c-n:
