I was not trying to lecture you......just telling you not to put pipes on your sled because that efi system is not designed for it. and you will be walking if you do. that's all bro....

woah...that's tough. I lost a bunch of frineds in highschool too. most were from accidents but tough none the less. If you know his sis take care of her too. She's going to need all the help she can get. I remember one of my friends was playing around on the steps with a scarf on, slid down the rail and the rest was history. it was bad for a long time. so I know how you feel....just take care of his sister. after finding him....she's in rough shape I would say.

my 95 vmax4 stock beats most sleds on the lake. it starts off slow but once I hit 40mph and punch it...im out. Even as heavy as it is the front end lifts up and digs in. I bury 120 pretty quick. I wanna gear it down bfore this winter and maybe find some cheap or free mods....any advice or tricks

I really don't think gearing it down will do much for you, what you need is a better clutch setup with a higher engagement rpm. You can find setups over at that "crappy website that sells hats and stickers" if you take the time to look.
All of the 750's had clutch problems, the primary problem was a binding secondary clutch. Raising the engagement rpm really wakes them up off the line too (Hauck blue primary spring). All of the Vmax-4's made good power but the problem was getting it to the snow. A properly setup (clutched) Vmax-4 can still hold its own against many of the newer sleds. I have a 92, that's received some mild mods to bring it up to the 93/94 hp rating. There is no way that a RXL is even close to a properly clutched 750. I'm not going to try and start a war here but in the 660 it's consistently beat newer 800's. Don't under estimate a properly clutched Vmax-4.
PSI quad pipes(low RPM ones), Cat bearcat clutches, jetting...103 mph on the gun in 660'. Not too shabby for a old heavy tird is it? They are the best sounding piped sled period IMO. Unlike anything out there. In the right hands they run very well.
I worked at a Yamaha dealer when the Max4's were new. Bone stock out of the crate a good running 650 would beat them. But if you took the time to properly tune, clutch and gear them, they were strong runners. If you went the extra mile, pipes, 180'ed the crank, ignition they would haul pretty good. In my opinion one of the coolest Yammi's made, would like to have a 92 one day.
Hey Poo Boy, :wc: Just wait for one to stop so you can get a good look from the front. Then you might be able to give a qualified opinion on on a Vmax-4's looks oke: .
The 92 was a total dog. My buddies 93 XLT Special with pipes would walk all over it, as would my 93 Storm. I guess the later years got better over time, but they handled very bad. Best the 92 VMax4 would get on radar was 102 mph. Pretty bad. My mod 86 Phazer would hit 94 back then.
I had a 94 Vmax4 and plain and simple there are bad sleds! I'm looking at buying another to go drag racing :w00t: I sold mine last year and don't know what I was thinking? I wanted a newer sled with a little more suspension, I should have just kept it and bought the new one.
These are fast sleds guys. Do they weigh a ton? Yes. Do they handle like a dream? No. But are they rediculously fast for a sled that is at newest 11 years old? YES! I have mine minorly modded with quad pipes and a clutch kit and I can either beat or keep within a sled or two of any new iron out there that are either stock or have similar mods to me. Highly modded sleds, thats a diff story..
To all those who say they handle like crap, yeah they don't handle like a dream, these sleds will definately separate the men from the boys - but they can handle, guess you guys must still be boys...
To the guy that said they're ugly, well that's your opinion. But you've probably only seen the tail light of one...
Ugly....I think it looks awesome  IMHO....I think the Vmax4 is the AC Cobra of sleds.
