Different chassis, triple pipes on the SPX vs single on the SP.

Ultra SP

Ultra SPX

See the difference? LOL

If the SPX is an SE, it has a electric fuel gauge, temp gauge, plastic skis, and a shorter-lug track which helps for studding.

add 30 hp for the spx take away 50 lbs for the sp. the spx is a hog. better off with a sp and putting on some slp pipes.

I've got a stock '97 Ultra SP with about 1500 miles on it and I'm considering upgrading. Will I notice much of a difference in suspension and HP if I go to a new '03 XC700SP or XC800SP? :beerchug:

You'll notice a HUGE improvement in both power and suspension. An XC 600 will beat your Ultra pretty handily. The 700 and 800 will smoke it, hands down. The only thing you'll miss is the sweet sweet howler sound of the Ultra triple. My last two sleds were trips and I really miss that sound

What year is the xc 600? When I when I was riding my 2000 xc 600 2 buddy's had 96&97 ultra sp. And I had no problem beating either one. I think the 600ves motor has no trouble beating a stock ultra.

How long was the race? If it was more than a mile, I believe you. 1000 feet or less, no way.
