Default Engine Serial Numbers

I have a '98 and an '02 Pantera that I need to get the engine serial numbers for. As far as I can tell this is next to impossible with the motor in the sled.

There are 3 lines of numbers on each ECU. Are any of these the engine serial number?

Good old state of Corruption (Illinois) needs it for registration. I bought them out of WI and MI and they weren't on the previous reg cards.

that sucks time to start tearing it down to get the number or just search for ESN and just write one down like they are ever going to check.

If you plan on riding in either one of tjhose stated more than IL I would just register it in that sate. WI does not require engine numbers and you might be able to avoid paying sales tax when you register it in another state.
