Question 2005 Firecat F7 Speedometer WEIRDNESS!

I bought a 2005 F7 EFI SnoPro and I am getting it ready for my wife to ride this season.

One thing I noticed was the speedometer is really acting weird.

First of all, it is stuck displaying kilometers. I have read that holding the top button on the cluster will switch it to MPH. This works on my 2006 F7, but not on her 2005 F7.

Second, the speedo reads WAY high. Like it is set to a multiplier. When we were doing around 50mph, it was showing 200+ kmph. The odometer racks up miles/clicks quickly as well. we went on a ride that was less than 20 miles, yet the trip odometer showd over 100kmph.

Can anyone offer thoughts on why this is happening and how I can fix it? Thanks!

On my 2004, connecting these harness ends will display KM/H. Pretty cool trick I found out on accident lol

Just a random piece of trivia I guess. Your speed sensor is probably going bad though

Pell16 they removed that wire for the 05+06's, they should have kept it.

Ok good stuff. Yeah, I saw those wires unconnected underhood and thought it was odd, so connected them, and my speedo was in KM/H...

Thanks for the information, I will replace the speedo sensor and check the crank bearings.

Now I just need to get it into MPH...I am still striking out on that.

I doubt its your DD sensor, i had this EXACT same problem with my F7 back when we were fixing right-offs frequently and it turned out i had an 03/04 hood harness in my 05 sled, it made the speedo read way high and it would switch from km to mph automatically.

How does that happen? Factory error?

How do I fix it? Buy an 05 harness and install it?

Thanks!
